WHILE HIS EXCELLENCY THE BUTLER is practising his political speeches at the Sydney Opera House (this week it's Abraham Lincoln), his staff are resigning en masse.
The Governor's official secretary, John Chilcott, senior aide Anne Parker and
aide-de-camp Chris Beattie will all leave their positions today.

Even the Police Commissioner has chucked his long-term role as ADC to the Tasmanian Governor.

Premier Lennon is staying brave and true to Butler. He's sure he'll find someone to answer the phone by Monday.

Considering what it would cost to buy His Excellency out of his contract, who can blame him?
