THE PHONES WERE JAMMED when Auntie's apparatchiks tried to get vox pops from Australia and the US last Sunday.

The evening Auntie TV news was full of sprays from the manifesting pacifists on the streets of both countries. Religiously they moved from city to city to make sure that the protesting population of each place had the opportunity to repeat each other's cliches.

The news report noted the ominous increase in support for the Australian government, and that Bush's support was racing towards 70%.

None among the communards was able to find a telephone line to get a point of view from any member of those rather large groups.

Despite their daily contacts last week with citizens of Baghdad who could share their discomfort with us.
